I Tremble with Anticipation (2015)

I Tremble With Anticipation is a video poem that remixes subtitled film stills from dozens of foreign language movies to construct a novel poetic text. The work features meticulously selected frames that are orchestrated into verses that juxtapose gesture, light and setting, creating a new dialog across films.

The work is comprised of five sections that feature different themes and moods. Instead of “moving images” the piece is moving sounds across the three-dimensional listening field with an immersive 5.1 soundtrack written by the filmmaker. The work is at once homage to the history of film and an understated realignment of sonic and visual cinematic conventions.

“Unlike Feltron’s printed works, which utilize two-dimen- sional visual cues, Demirjian relies on an even tempo, linguistic narrative, and cohesive audio soundtrack to create meaningful relationships between the separate film stills he recombines.”
